WHO WE ARE

Passionate runners inspiring youth to get active and be health wise

JODY FOSTER: CHAIRPERSON

A runner who has completed the Comrades Marathon three times, Jody brings a wealth of senior and project management experience spanning sponsorships, marketing, sports development, anti-doping and sports-science to her role as the chairperson of RUN SHARP. Her career achievements include establishing Liberty Life’s Wellness Initiative; overseeing Liberty Life’s Athletics Club sponsored by Nike; and spearheading the largest sports mass participation in the world under the auspices of Discovery, South Africa’s largest health insurer. Jody’s work in sports development includes coordinating projects with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and international sports icons such as Monica Seles, Usain Bolt, and Edwin Moses. She has served as an advisor on anti-doping policy in South Africa and worked with the Sports Science Institute of Africa on various education initiatives. Jody’s proudest moment was the Liberty Running Club accomplishing two unique achievements at the 2003 Comrades marathon: the first was Fusi Nhlapo crowned as the winner of the men’s race, and the club winning the team trophy.

ALLIM MILAZI: FOUNDER

Allim started running regularly in 2007 to maintain fitness for his other sports passion: football. His love for running boomed to the extent that in 2011 he embarked on a grand personal challenge to run 7 marathons on 7 continents. He has since run on six continents and plans to finish his final continental run – Antarctic Ice Marathon – by 2016. Allim has more than 15 years of senior management experience covering PR, investor relations, and corporate social responsibility in financial services. Inspired by his running experiences from around the world, Allim left the for-profit-world to found RUN SHARP.

EDMOND MAHLONG: PROGRAMME MANAGER

Edmond’s passion for running started in 2012 when he decided to get active and pursue a healthy lifestyle. Propelled by pure zeal, he ran a 10K and 21K race within 3 months of taking up running – in All Star sneakers. Weeks later, he completed a 50KM race – before running his first marathon– though this time he finished the ultra-marathon in proper running shoes! Edmond brings more than five years of experience managing events in the short-term insurance industry. Having played an instrumental role in establishing RUN SHARP, he is a member of the management team, oversees RUN SHARP’s events and educational field trips, and serves as a running coach in the RUN SHARP for Life Programme.
